In the Prose of Love

“In the Prose of Love” is a display of affection through letters and portraits. I am most interested in the way people talk to each other and how we decide what thoughts and opinions to share with others (in person versus in writing) The romanticism of love letters and the process of taking portraits of loved ones is a nuanced practice. These objects aren’t often shared publicly, often becoming a sort of eulogy of the receiver and the giver’s relationship. This is a practice in honesty and open affection, allowing the outside viewers to look into each individual relationship. It is entirely voyeuristic while also maintaining its private, personal details.

Sitting on Thoughts

Sitting on Thoughts is a physical representation of mental paths and habits. It reaches into truth and lies and commonalities between people without the pressure of identity. While remaining anonymous, the participator can add to the prompts or ask questions themselves.

Golgotha Replaced

It is based on the idea of the crucifixion of Christ and the location of where he was. Christ was crucified on what is most accepted as Golgotha, a hill outside of Jerusalem with inversions that make the hillside look like a skull.

The skull itself is placed upon a rod on a pedestal to elevate it. The skull is painted with a thermo pigment so when heated, the black becomes transparent, revealing the text over the brow bone. The text says tetelestai in greek which translates to Christ's last words "It is finished".

Hot fake blood is poured over the skull, thus making it also a performative work.
